At the End of the Day?, 2006
Salt crystals, Japanese paper (141 x 197 cm), spot light
Salt crystals are sprinkled sparingly and randomly on a large Japanese paper laid out flat with a light source at one end in otherwise a dark space.
The spotlight highlights the soft and delicate texture of the paper, which undulates gently resembling waves or dunes. The shallow angle of the light causes each salt crystal to appear to glow with each leaving tail-like shadow. These shadows give a sense of all the salt crystals rushing towards the source of light.
